Plans for giant 21 metre mast on grounds of county Kilkenny Garda station

A national broadband, phone and TV provider is seeking to erect a 21 metre high telecommunications antenna on the grounds of a county Kilkenny Garda Station.

Eir has applied to Kilkenny County Council looking for permission to erect the structure at Mullinavat Garda Station.

In the application received by the local authority last week, Eircom Ltd sought permission “to erect a 21m monopole telecommunications support structure together with antennas, dishes and associated telecommunications equipment all enclosed in security fencing at the Eir Exchange”.

According to the application, the development will be located to the “rear of Mullinavat Garda Station, Main Street, Mullinavat”.

Submissions from the public are being accepted up until December 7. A decision on the application will be made early in the New Year.
