LATEST: Kilkenny among 265 new cases of virus as five further deaths confirmed

A further six more people have died after contracting the coronavirus as 265 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed this evening.

It brings the overall death told as a result of the virus to 2,086. There are now 73,491 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across the country, according to the latest daily briefing from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET).

The breakdown of the latest cases is as follow: 84 are in Dublin, 28 in Louth, 27 in Limerick, 19 in Donegal, 15 in Wicklow, 15 in Galway with the remaining 77 cases spread across 18 other counties, including five further infections in Kilkenny.
