Just the Tonic: New local radio programme to provide relief for Kilkenny’s elderly
A campaign to assist Kilkenny’s older generation to get through the next few months of Covid-19 restrictions is being launched this evening.
Kilkenny County Council and local radio station KCLR have joined forces to launch a new programme called The Tonic, which is broadcast for the first time at 6pm tonight. The show is part of the local authority’s Well Being Campaign to provide support and some much needed relief for listeners who have been particularly affected by the latest restrictions.
Presented by John Masterson, the programme is an hour-long mixture of songs and interviews ranging in subject matter from arts, to sport, storytelling, health and wellbeing as well as personality interviews.
Kilkenny Older Person’s Council chair Betty Dewberry said the radio programme is “a chance to reminisce about bygone days” – adding: “Tune in every Thursday evening for an hour of welcome distraction from the challenges we are facing every day now.”
Broadcasting every Thursday for the next 12 weeks ‘The Tonic’ will be available to listen back on the KCLR website and on all podcast platforms.
