KILKENNY WEATHER: Met Éireann warns of snow as big winter change on the way
Snow is being forecast for Ireland this week as Kilkenny and the rest of the country it hit with a colder spell of weather.
After a relatively mild and dry weekend in Kilkenny, Met Éireann said today will continue to enjoy brighter spells this morning, but it will become “generally dull and overcast with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle” later on, with highest temperatures of between five and 10 degrees.
But weather experts warned conditions will turn a lot colder from tomorrow, with “wintry falls” at times and possibly snow on Wednesday.
Met Éireann said: “Tuesday will be a very wet day nationwide with heavy spells of rain, possibly turning wintry at times in the north. Spot flooding is likely with low cloud and mist too.
“Scattered outbreaks of rain after dark with localised wintry falls. Frost and ice will set in too, especially across the northern half of Ireland. Lowest temperatures of -2 to + 5 degrees Celsius (north to south), in light to moderate north to northeast breezes.”
Met Éireann said there will be more outbreaks of rain on Wednesday, “possibly turning to sleet and snow at times” with highest temperatures of 3 to 5 degrees.
The national forecaster said Thursday and Friday will be cold days, with sunny spells and scattered showers, adding: “There will be an added wind chill factor by day with frost and possible ice developing after dark.”
