Thrill-kenny: Surge in numbers booking ‘staycations’ across city and county

Despite being still under lockdown conditions, people are starting to believe there is light at the end of the tunnel. So much so that Kilkenny is recording a marked increase in ‘staycation; bookings.

Kilkenny Tourism is reporting a significant increase in the number of bookings for staycations from July onwards.

Kilkenny Tourism chairperson Ciaran Conroy said: “As Irish people prepare and plan for their Summer staycations, visitkilkenny.ie the tourism website for the county has witnessed an increase in traffic, as hotels across the county are witnessing a surge in demand for rooms in recent weeks and looking for longer stays for when we can travel.

“Kilkenny is the ideal location for a family get-away, nowhere else in Ireland can offer such a unique variety of activities for all the family to enjoy.

“Not only that, the county offers a huge selection of self-catering, outdoor accommodation and family hotels that offer excellent value for money.

“Kilkenny has always been a top destination for Irish holidaymakers, the county is home to exceptional fun-filled outdoor and adventure attractions that appeal to all families,” Mr Conroy added.
