LATEST: Kilkenny infections among 423 new cases of virus as five further deaths confirmed

A further five people have died after contracting the coronavirus as 423 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed this evening.

The overall death toll as a result of the virus has now reached 4,732. There have now been 239,325 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across the country, according to the latest daily briefing from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET).

The breakdown of the latest cases is as follows: 199 in Dublin, 41 in Kildare, 23 in Meath, 20 in Galway, 18 in Westmeath and the remaining 122 spread across 19 other counties, less than five cases were recorded in Kilkenny.
