WEATHER WARNING: Thunderstorms forecast for Kilkenny in latest Met Éireann alert

Met Éireann have just issued a Status Yellow weather warning for Kilkenny and surrounding counties, forecasting thunder and lightening storms for the remainder of the afternoon.

The Thunderstorm warning was issued just before 4pm and will remain in place until 6pm.

The national weather forecaster said: “Scattered thunderstorms this afternoon and early evening, bringing some heavy downpours with the risk of spot flooding and hail.”

The warning is in place for Kilkenny and neighbouring Carlow, Wexford and Waterford, and also Cork.

There has already been seveeral lightening strikes in the south of the county recorded between Glenmore and Mullinavat.
