Two drug drivers were arrested in separate parts of Kilkenny.

The arrests were made as members of the Kilkeny Roads Policing Unit carried out mandatory intoxicant testing (MIT) checkpoints across the county over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Gardai confirmed two drivers were arrested for drug driving in Castlecomer and Freshford at the start of the weekend.

A local Garda spokesperson added: “Gardaí will continue to conduct patrols and checkpoints over the weekend in Carlow and Kilkenny. Never drive while under the influence of an intoxicant, wear your seat belt.”
