LATEST: Over 1,500 new cases of virus confirmed, but Holohan says incidence rate of schoolchildren has ‘fallen right back down’
A further 1,586 more people have contracted the coronavirus, the Department of Health confirmed this evening.
And the number of patients being treated in hospital for the virus now stands at 298, down 10 on yesterday.
Some 56 of these are in ICU, a drop of three over the past 24 hours.
In a video message on Twitter today, Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said the incidence rate in children of primary school age has “fallen right back down”.
