Kilkenny residents targeted in wave of new phone and online scams
Kilkenny gardai have urged people to be alert for scam calls and texts after it dealt with four incidents of fraud locally within a 24-hour period.
The cases involved bogus calls and links sent by mobile and email targeting local residents and card details being used without authorisation.
In one instance, a man was scammed out of €750 after he recieved a call from a fraudster claming to be from the Department of Social Welfare.
