‘Time to end 100 years of FF/FG rule’ – Carlow-Kilkenny election candidate
A local election candidate has said “it’s time to end 100 years of Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael rule in this country”.
With Taoiseach Simon Harris expected to announce he is going to the country at the end of this week, People Before Profit-Solidarity candidate for Carlow-Kilkenny, Cllr Adrienne Wallace, said she will be offering local voters “a left alternative” to the established government parties.
She said the housing crisis “will be central to our election campaign”, including plans to bring in “rent controls to reduce rents and to ban no-fault evictions”.
Cllr Wallace said her party would also use the €13bn in Apple back taxes “to create a state construction company to directly build at least 35,000 social and affordable homes per year – homes that are urgently needed”.
She also attacked the Green Party over the Coalition’s failure to meet greenhouse gas emission targets.
And she added: “While other opposition parties are still refusing to rule out future coalition deals with Fianna Fáil or Fine Gael, People Before Profit-Solidarity guarantee not to prop them up, and instead we are giving the Irish people a clear choice and a genuine left alternative in the forthcoming general election. Another Ireland is possible.”
