UPDATE: Kilkenny gardai confirm horse killed in M9 crash horror
GARDAI have confirmed a horse was killed in the collision that resulted in a section of the M9 being closed off last night.
Kilkenny gardai said the collision involved “two jeeps and a horse box” that were travelling southbound on the motorway just after the turnoff to Knocktopher.
A Garda source told KilkennyNow.ie the horse was “thrown from the box in the course of the accident”.
The horse died at the scene. None of the drivers or passengers of the vehicles were seriously injured.
The collision occurred at around 6.50pm last night. Emergency services arrived at the scene a short time later and the section of the motorway southbound between Knocktopher and Mullinavat was closed to traffic for several hours.
