SPONSORED: LANA Kilkenny – where street food tastes as good as it looks and looks as good as it smells

Asian street food is a delight for all the senses. It looks good. It tastes delicious. And the bonus is the wonderful aroma – as everyone who has had the good fortune to visit an Asian city will tell you.

Kilkenny customers have been treated to the full Asian street dining experience since the LANA restaurant on Upper Patrick Street opened its doors to the public last year.

“One of the things our customers love is the smell of the different foods as they are placed on the table,” says owner Stephen Lin. “Their reaction is amazing. It’s like they could be sitting outside in Singapore, enjoying really nice informal street food with fragrant aromas.”

And not just Singapore. LANA’S menu incorporates traditions of fine food and great cooking from across Asia, drawing on the culinary secrets of China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia and and Vietnam.

At the heart of it all is the taste of Thailand. The ancient kingdom of Siam lies at the crossroads of all these Asian cultures and LANA’s expert chefs happily borrow from them for their great new restaurant in Kilkenny.

LANA has restaurants in eight other Irish locations, so it is as familiar with Irish tastes as it is Asian street skills.

Waiting staff will be happy to talk you through the menu and the chefs will tailor dishes to your requirements: hot, medium or mild.

The restaurant is family-friendly and great for social get-togethers. “We see LANA as the perfect place for families and friends to sit, chat, and share great food, full of the flavours of the East,” adds Stephen Lin.

The amazing Asian cuisine is made, wherever possible, with locally sourced Irish produce of the highest quality.

“There is a lightness to our cooking that stems from real vegetables and quality ingredients, including the rice and noodles,” says Stephen. “The food is sharp, full of flavour, and incredibly tasty.”

Starters comprise such Asian bites as spring rolls, chicken skewers, fish cakes, chicken wings, BBQ pork ribs and tiger prawns.

Mains include a delicious selection of rice and noodle dishes, plus curries and wok-fried delights, using chicken, duck, beef and prawns.

LANA aims to meet all dietary needs and preferences. It has a vegan menu and  a wide variety of both vegetarian and coeliac-friendly options, as well as a full children’ s menu.

And it is extraordinarily good value, with main courses starting from €10 and starters from €5. On top of this, you will get 10% off by ordering from the menu online, from www.LanaThai.ie or by downloading the LANA app.

“If you want far east flavours, really great value and lip-licking goodness, pay us a visit,” says Stephen. “We’d love to help you enjoy a true LANA experience.”
