Final decision on Kilkenny mosque ‘imminent’ – An Bord Pleanála
A FINAL decision on the proposed mosque in Kilkenny city is “imminent”, planning sources told KilkennyNow.ie.
An Bord Pleanála was due to deliver its judgement on the proposed Islamic Cultural Centre at the Hebron Industrial Estate on Monday.
No announcement has yet been forthcoming from An Bord Pleanála, sparking fears that the ruling on the mosque would be delayed again. The planning body was originally due to deliver its verdict on the development in the first week of March.
However, an official in the planning authority’s office said the deadline for the planning decision will not be pushed back to another date.
The official told KilkennyNow.ie: “The decision is imminent. It’s at board level and on the final stages. The deadline will not be extended any further.”
Three separate appeals to the mosque plans were lodged to An Bord Pleanála after Kilkenny County Council granted planning permission to the development last year.
