Blow for city-centre as book store to close after quarter of a century in Kilkenny
DUBRAY Books, which has traded in Kilkenny for 25 years, has announced it has been forced to shut its store in the Market Cross Shopping Centre.
The announcement is the latest blow to the city-centre’s retail sector.
Assistant Manager Kevin Power said the store has endured very difficult trading conditions in recent years.
He told KilkennyNow.ie this morning: “Yeah, it’s been something we’ve been worried about for past few years, but unfortunately it’s come to pass now.”
It a notice posted this morning, Dubray Books, Kilkenny, said: “Dear Dubray customers. It is with great regret that we will be closing our Market Cross store on June 16 as our lease come to an end. We would like to sincerely thank you for your custom support during 25 years of trade in Kilkenny.”
The store said it will redeem any outstanding gift vouchers or loyalty points at the Market Cross store before June 16.
After this date the company will also be happy to redeem them in any of its other stores (four in Dublin, others in Galway and Bray) and also online.
