MURDER TRIAL: Neighbour describes O’Connor family ‘as very nice people’

The O’Connor  family have been described as “very nice people and good neighbours” by the man who lived next door to them.

Sam Lin told the Central Criminal Court that he did not see anything unusual on the night Kilkenny woman Patricia O’Connor was allegedly murdered and that the family had never mentioned the CCTV he had mounted on his front house.

Mr Lin was giving evidence in the trial of Kieran Greene (34) who denies murdering his partner’s mother, Patricia O’Connor (61) at the house they shared at Mountainview Park, Rathfarnham, on May 29, 2017.

The grandmother’s remains were found dispersed throughout the Dublin and Wicklow mountains between June 10 and 14, 2017, and Mr Greene’s then-partner, Louise O’Connor (41), her daughter Stephanie O’Connor (22), and Louise O’Connor’s ex-partner, Keith Johnston (43) all deny helping to cover up the crime.

The court has heard how Mr Greene told Gardai he had acted alone but later  said he had agreed to take the blame and claimed it was Patricia’s husband Gus O’Connor who killed her and that Mr Johnston had scattered the body parts.

Earlier today, the court heard that investigators believe that two men seen buying tools and other items at shops in Tallaght on June 9, 2017 were Mr Greene and Mr Johnston.

Gardai later found receipts in the O’Connors’ house and car and bought matching items in “controlled purchases” at the shops.

The trial continues.
