Cocaine crackdown: Kilkenny gardai raid 16 local premises, €40k of drugs seized

Cocaine, heroin, downers and cannabis worth up to €40,000 were recovered and 14 people charged with drug offences following a planned crackdown on the sale and supply of drugs in Kilkenny.

Earlier this week the Kilkenny-Carlow Divisional Drugs Unit conducted targeted searches on 16 locations throughout counties Kilkenny and Carlow.

As a result of the searches 14 people were arrested and charged in relation to the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Garda Divisional area.

More than €40,000 worth of cocaine, heroin, benzodiazepines (known as downers or jellies) and cannabis has been seized.

A local Garda spokesperson said: “The strategic aim of this operation is to increase public safety by reducing the availability of illegal drugs in our communities.”
