Kilkenny CBS supporters go ‘buck mad’ after wonder goal from hurling star-in-the-making
A WONDER goal scored by a Kilkenny schools hurling star-in-the-making has become the talk of the county.
O’Loughlin Gaels’ Luke Hogan marked himself out as one to watch in the future after he played a starring role when lining out for Kilkenny CBS against Wexford’s St Peter’s College.
The talented youngster hit 2-1 from play, but it was his second goal that, in the words of Kilkenny GAA Supporters News, sent the crowd “buck mad”.
The popular supporters’ online platform’s description of young Hogan’s wonder strike would do Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh proud: “He picked the ball up in his own half back line and as soon as the big, rangy forward started galloping, you could sense the danger and the possibility. He’d scored the crucial goal to beat rivals St Kieran’s College in the League recently and he was the man to the danger ball.
“He hared past two, three, four defenders before lashing an unstoppable bullet into the roof of the Wexford net.”
Cue wild celebrations from the CBS support. Hogan’s heroics would prove decisive in propelling the Kilkenny school to victory against their Wexford rivals.
CBS now advance to the last four of the Leinster Senior Schools hurling championship.
