A further five pass away as Taoiseach says pandemic payment will be extended ‘for months’

A further five people lost their lives from Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland in the last 24 hours, the HSE said this evening.

The total death toll here is now 1,664 while the number of confirmed cases has now reached 25,142 after another 38 were diagnosed.

Meanwhile, the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said in the Dáil that the Pandemic Unemployment Payment will be available for months rather than weeks.

He added that anyone who was working full-time before will remain on €350 per week while some of those who were working part-time will see their payment reduced.
