Accident blackspot outside Kilkenny town to be consigned to history

A notorious accident blackspot at a busy junction outside a Kilkenny village is to be removed and replaced with a new road.

The new section of the N77 route north of Ballyragget at Ballyconra and Ballynaslee has been approved by An Bord Pleanála.

The development will consist of the realignment of a 2.44km section of the road to remove a bend immediately to the north of the Glanbia plant outside the village.

The new road will begin roughly 250mts south of the Glanbia plant and extend northwards to tie in to the recently completed N77 Ballynaslee Realignment Scheme.

The works will consist of 1740m of online realignment and 700m of offline realignment works, with associated drainage, fencing, safety barriers, kerbing, signage and landscaping works.
