ALERT: Garda warning as bogus ‘power-washers’ clean out another home in Kilkenny city
TWO thieves posing as ‘power-washers’ have cleaned out another home in Kilkenny city.
KilkennyNow.ie has learned the two men, who had professional-looking business cards, duped an unsuspecting householder into believing they were providing cleaning services.
But instead they stole a number of items and gardai have urged householders to beware of people who arrive at their doorstep offering similar types of services.
The latest theft occurred at a house in the Castlecomer Road area of the city last Wednesday.
This followed a very similar incident in the nearby Glenbawn area just days earlier. In this incident two men stole cash and several items after they gained entry to the property by posing as professional power-cleaners. It is understood the pair were driving a white van.
A local Garda source told KilkennyNow.ie: “These are bogus callers who are fraudulently wrangling their way into homes under the pretence of carrying out work.”
Gardai have urged anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the Castlecomer Road area around the time of the latest theft, or who may have been approached by people offering similar services, to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 000.
