Anger as booze-fuelled vandals cause extensive damage to Kilkenny sports club
Substantial damage was done to the gournd of East End United FC in Bennettsbridge.
In recent weeks damage was caused to the fencing surrounding the pitch and to the newly-erected dugouts.
The vandals struck again this week. A club spokesperson said on social media: “The railings were pulled from the ground, brackets at the new entrance were broken away and the Perspex on the dugouts were vandalised.”
Pictures posted on the East End United Facebook page show discarded beer cans and a bottle of empty rum left behind.
The club has condemned the anti social behaviour as “inexcusable”.
The spokesperson pointed out: “We are a small club trying to provide soccer for the young people in our local community and it is very disheartening to see this damage done by some individuals that are possibly playing soccer in the same field wearing an East End jersey.”
Gardai are investigating the latest attacks on the club’s facilities.
The club has urged anyone who have any information about the acts of vandalism to contact gardai or a members of the club’s committee.
If anyone has any information relating to the vandalism, please contact a member of the committee.
