Anger as well-known Kilkenny city salon smashed up by vandals overnight
A popular Kilkenny business was the target of a mindless act of vandalism overnight in which all the windows of the property were smashed.
The Hair by Nigel & Co salon in the Market Yard was vandalised sometime between midnight and 12.30am this morning.
The vandals smashed the large pane of glass in the front door, all the display windows at the front of the salon, and the windows to the side of the business.
Despite smashing all the glass, it appears that nothing was taken during the incident and those responsible simply fled after causing untold and costly damage to the property.
The owner of the salon, Nigel Kenny, took to Facebook this morning to express his anger at the wanton act of vandalism on his business while maintaining the humour only Irish people can display in times like these.
In the video Nigel Kenny posted to Facebook of the damage caused, he pointed the futility of the action stating the area is covered in CCTV cameras.
But he appeared to take the setback in his stride as he declared: “Ladies! If you wanted your hair done you just had to ask. Not as much as brush robbed!”
Gardai are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the attack or who have information regarding the incident to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.
