SPONSORED: Award-winning Kilkenny restaurant gives diners pizza mind with innovative new collection service

An innovative Kilkenny restaurant is providing a bespoke new pizza and wine collection service in a safe environment starting this weekend.

Barrow’s Keep in Thomastown has just launched a delicious pizza menu which, together with its award-winning wine offering, allows couple to create their own romantic restaurant setting from the comfort of their own homes.

Owners Stephen McArdle (picture below in front of Barrow’s Keep clay pizza oven) and Morgan Vanderkamer have adapted their menu and service to cater for the needs of their growing customer base in light of the latest guidelines from health authorities.

Speaking about the decision to provide the collection service, Morgan says: “Everyone has to take stock and make the best out of the situation, so we are providing a pizza and wine collection service over the coming weeks for anyone who wishes to re-create the Barrow’s Keep dining experience at home.”

The pizzas, starting at just €12, are reasonably priced too. You can choose from The Molly (tomato base, mozzarella), The Henry (tomato base, mozzarella and Breagagh Valley smoked salami) to the more adventurous Four String (tomato base, mozzarella, sautéed wild mushrooms, Crozier Blue, Comte, Parmesan and garlic oil) and The Hound (tomato base, goats cheese, roasted red pepper, chorizo and basil pesto).

There’s also the mouth-watering The Keep (bbq style sauce base, Breagagh Valley smoked sausage, mozzarella, green pepper and sweetcorn) and two salad choices: Ceasar or Rocket.

Wine on tap is also available from Barrow’s Keep award-winning cellar.

The Barrow’s Keep pizza and wine collection service will operate every Friday and Saturday evening, from 6pm to 9pm.

Conscious of the need to maintain proper social distancing measures, customers’ orders will be available for collection in the adjacent car park on Marsh’s Street in Thomastown.

Morgan says: “All you have to do is phone you order in advance, then call when you are in the carpark. Your pizza will be put on as soon as you arrive and we will run out to your car with your order, along with contactless payment once it’s ready.

“All orders will be taken via phone and there will be no pick-up from the front door – we’ll bring it to you in the safety of your car.”

Morgan and Stephen also sent a warm thank you to their customers and urged them all to stay safe throughout the Covid-19 emergency.

Morgan adds: “We would like to take the opportunity to thank all of our customers for their support since we opened the restaurant in Thomastown and wish everyone a safe and happy time over the coming weeks.”
