Back to life: New campaign to entice ‘staycationers’ back to Kilkenny
As the rollout of the national vaccination programme gathers pace, local tourism chiefs are already planning to entice domestic ‘staycationers’ back to Kilkenny city and county.
Kilkenny Tourism has launched #More to Explore, a multi-pronged campaign highlighting Kilkenny’s many unique tourism attractions, from outdoors activities and authentic experiences to family, couple, and group fun orientated get-aways.
The campaign focuses on Kilkenny’s outdoors from Castlecomer’s Discovery Park to the Dunmore Caves; the county’s history in the Medieval Mile to Jerpoint and Kells Abbeys; to the amazing foods and poduce, arts, culture, trails, tracks and gardens all on offer in the county.
As we look forward to a relaxation of restrictions, Kilkenny hotels are already receiving many bookings from ‘staycationers’ from across the country. Local hotels have reported a surge in bookings pver the past month as people from all corners of the country plan their domestic summer getaway.
Kilkenny Tourism chairperson Ciaran Conroy said: “This is an exciting time for the county as we prepare to re-open for tourists.
“Kick-starting tourism and all its elements has been a high priority for Kilkenny Tourism and we have been pro-actively working with our partners and members to ensure that we meet visitors expectations for fun outdoor and authentic experienced based holidays this summer.
“This campaign is set to demonstrate that Kilkenny has plenty to offer for families; couples; groups of friends in search of outdoor adventure and we look forward to welcoming visitors back shortly,” Mr Conroy addded.
