Batten down the hatches – 100km/hr gales to batter Kilkenny tonight: Met Éireann Status Yellow warning
GUSTS of up 100km/hr are set to batter Kilkenny tonight.
Met Éireann has issued two fresh Status Yellow wind warnings, which combined encompass the entire island.
The second of the warnings has been issued for Kilkenny and the rest of Leinster at 8pm tonight. The alert also covers neighbouring Waterford and Tipperary, along with counties Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon, Cork and Limerick.
The wind warning will be in place until 9am tomorrow morning. Met Éireann said gusts of 100 km/hr will hit Kilkenny and Leinster.
The national forecaster’s first Status Yellow warning, which comes into effect at 7pm, covers Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry.
Met Éireann said: “This evening and overnight, very strong north to northwest winds will reach mean speeds of 60 to 65 km/hr with gusts of 100 to 110 km/hr. Wind speeds may exceed these values at times in exposed coastal areas. There will also be very high seas.”
