Blooming disgrace: Flowerbeds in Kilkenny city vandalised by ‘yobs’

Local residents in Kilkenny city were left shocked after their volunteer work to bring some colour to the area was vandalised once again.

The flowers were planted by the Newpark Residents Association earlier this week.

But much of the residents’ hard work was undone after after vandals ripped out some of the flowers from the pots.

It is the second similar incident in the area in recent months.

In April flower boxes were vandalised after culprits ripped out some flowers in the Newpark area and near John’s Quay.

A local Garda spokesperson said: “Not for the first time this year, Newpark Residents Association had flowers removed from flower beds and pots in recent days.

“This yobbish behaviour is hard to fathom.”

Witnesses or anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on  056 777 5000.
