Breakfast of Champions: Two Kilkenny eateries named Ireland’s best
If you want to start your day in the right way, well it appears you best come to Kilkenny to fill up on the most important meal of the day.
Two local establishments have walked away with the top prize in their category at the Georgina Campbell Irish Breakfast Awards announced today.
Áran Bakery in Kilkenny City won the people’s vote for the country’s best brunch, while the Avalon House Hotel in Castlecomer won the best breakfast in a four-star hotel award.
The Irish Breakfast Awards, in association with Fáilte Ireland, are according to Georgina Campbell to: “Celebrate the people and businesses that strive to make the first meal of the day as memorable as any fine dining experience.”
The awards recognise the best of produce and presentation from pudding to preserves, bangers to blaas, cheeses to croissants in all types of establishments such as hotels, cafes, visitor attractions and B&B’s.
The awards were held in Dublin’s Intercontinental Hotel and hosted by Rachel Allen.
