BREAKING: An Bord Pleanála rejects plans for mosque in Kilkenny
AN Bord Pleanála has refused permission for the planned mosque in Kilkenny, it emerged this morning.
The planning authority had deferred its decision on the development on two previous occasions.
However, a spokesperson this morning confirmed the body has overturned the decision by Kilkenny County Council to grant permission to the project.
This means the proposed Islamic Cultural Centre at the Hebron Industrial Estate will not now go ahead.
Three separate appeals to the mosque plans were lodged to An Bord Pleanála after Kilkenny County Council granted planning permission to the development last year.
More to follow later.
