BREAKING: Criminals stirrup trouble – gang targets Kilkenny homes with stables
A CRIMINAL gang is targeting homes in Kilkenny with horse stables.
Three private properties in the county were targeted overnight this week by what is believed to be the same gang, gardai confirmed to KilkennyNow.ie.
The first residence, in Castleinch on the Callan Road, had several expensive pieces of horse equipment and supplies stolen from the property overnight between Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23.
The owner of the property discovered the stables had been broken into the following morning. Horse headgear, collars, blankets, medical supplies and horse feed supplements were missing.
Kilkenny gardai said the haul, which is valued at around €1,500, would have required a large vehicle to transport them from the property.
Another property nearby in Castleinch was targeted the same night. Thieves broke into a shed at the back of the house sometime between the hours of 10pm on Friday and 3.30pm the next day and made off with a yellow Karcher power-washer and two electric saws valued at €200.
More horse equipment and supplied were stolen from The Gallops in Duninga, just outside Goresbridge, on the same night. Horse headgear, collars, leads and other items were stolen. Again, gardai said a large vehicle would have been required to transport the stolen items.
Gardai have urged eyewitnesses or anyone with information about the above incidents to contact Kilkenny Garda Station (056 777 5000) or Goresbridge Garda Station (059 977 5202).
