Kilkenny road closed after serious collision involving car and tractor
A SECTION of the Kilkenny to Clonmel road has been temporarily closed off following a serious collision involving a car and a tractor.
A woman in her 60s is in a critical condition after in a Dublin hospital after the crash, which occurred four miles outside Kilkenny city between Ballymack and Lime Tree crossroads.
It is understood the car rear-ended the tractor, which had a trailer attached.
Three people were removed to hospital following the collision.
The woman in her 60s was initially taken to St Luke’s General Hospital before being transferred overnight to Beaumont Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.
Kilkenny gardai have urged motorists to try and avoid the road between the as it remains temporarily closed off for a forensic investigation.
Emergency services have shut a stretch of the road this morning and traffic diversions have been put in place.
Traffic travelling from Kilkenny to Callan/Clonmel will be redirected at Burnchurch. Traffic travelling from Callan/Clonmel to Kilkenny will be redirected at Ballymack Cross.
Gardai have appealed for any witnesses to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 500.
