BREAKING: Man dies after being stabbed at apartment in Carrick-on-Suir
A man died after he was stabbed at an apartment in Carrick-on-Suir over the weekend.
Gardai this morning confirmed the victim, who was in his 40s, was stabbed at an apartment complex in the North Quay area of the town at approximately 11:30pm on Saturday night.
The man was rushed to University Hospital Waterford (UHW) in a critical condition.
Doctors battled to save his life, but he died as a result of his injuries earlier this morning.
The Office of the State Pathologist has been notified and a post mortem is due to take place later today.
A Garda spokesperson said: “An incident room has been established at Clonmel Garda Station and investigations are ongoing. The scene of the incident remains preserved for a further technical examination.
“A man, aged in his 40s, has been arrested in relation to this investigation. He is currently detained at Clonmel Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
