BREAKING: Motorway collision causes traffic mayhem on M9 outside city
A COLLISION on the M9 has blocked off an entire section of the motorway between Kilkenny city and Paulstown.
Gardai have confirmed the M9 is blocked Northbound between Kilkenny J8 and Paulstown J7 as a result of the crash.
Motorists have been urged to divert at Junction 9, from Danesfort into Kilkenny and then take the N712, the old road from Kilkenny to Carlow.
Kilkenny gardai remain at the scene.
A spokesperson confirmed: “The northbound lanes of the motorway are currently fully blocked and will be for a period of time through the afternoon and evening.
“All traffic should avoid this stretch of motorway and traffic intending travelling this route should now use the R712.”
There have been no reports of casualties so far.
The cause of the collision is not yet known.
