Kilkenny hardware store gets green light to use roof to create solar power
A well-known hardware store and buildering provider in a county Kilkenny town is to become a whole lot greener after its plans to erect solar panels at its property were approved.
Kilkenny County Council has given the green light for plans to place solar panels on the roof of Treacy’s Homevalue Hardware in Thomastown.
The application was made by Legan Developments Limited to construct create 139m2 of photovoltaic panels on top of the store in Cloghabrody on the Kilkenny Road in the town.
The total build will see 76 solar panels placed on the roof and three convertors for the panels. Some 110mts of electrical cables will also be laid to complete the build and the panels will be connected up to the electrical network.
All of the associated equipment will be located at the rear of the existing building so as to not affect deliveries and parking for customers.
