Busted: L-driver has car seized after testing positive for drugs at Kilkenny checkpoint

A learner driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after he was stopped at a Garda checkpoint.

The motorist was pulled over and tested by gardai manning the checkpoint in Callan on Saturday evening.

The oral test provided positive for cannabis. A local Garda spokesperson confirmed: “Blood specimen sent for analysis. Vehicle seized under Clancy amendment as driver was learner permit holder unaccompanied. ”

Local gardai have again urged motorists never to drive under the influence of an intoxicant.
