CANCELLED: Kilkenny Kids Mini Marathon falls foul of weather

THE Kids Mini Marathon due to take place in the grounds of Kilkenny Castle tomorrow has been cancelled due to expected heavy rains and storms.

The organising committee made the decision early today, in an attempt to give enough notice to the hundreds of kids and parents expected in the park tomorrow.

Speaking to KilkennyNow.ie, the organisers said: “We are deeply disappointed for all the children looking forward to taking part. In the interest of their safety, comfort and enjoyment it is just not possible to hold the event in heavy rain.

“So much planning goes into our Kids Mini Marathon we really hope you understand that we did not make this decision lightly. We may be able to reschedule later in the year and will keep you posted.”
