Caught red-handed: Man (53) found with €60,000 worth of cocaine on Kilkenny border
A man had nowhere to hide after being found in possession of €60,000 worth of cocaine close to the Kilkenny border after being spotted acting suspiciously.
Gardai arrested a 53-year-old man at an outdoor location between Mullinahone and Ballingarry, just a couple of kilometres from the Kilkenny border yesterday afternoon when he was found in possession of a large quantity of the drug.
Gardai from the Clonmel District Drugs Unit discovered the cocaine, which an effort was made to conceal, in an open area close to Mullinahone village.
A follow-up search was carried out at a house in Drangan village in county Tipperary and gardaí seized a weighing scales, a vacuum packing machine, bags and other paraphernalia.
The man arrested at the scene in Mullinahone continues to be questioned at Clonmel Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
