Plans lodged for new school in Kilkenny’s Wetlands

Plans to build a brand new primary school in Kilkenny city have taken a big step forward after planning permission was requested for the project.
Cairn Home Properties has formally applied for planning permission to build the new 16 classroom school, which forms part of the ongoing Western Environs development.
Carin’s plans involve the construction of a two-storey, 16 classroom primary school building and a two classroom special needs centre just off the Castleinch Road, beside College Park in the Wetlands area of the city.
The project will have a total floor area of 2,741mt sq and will be built on a 1.78 hectare site.
The plans for the school include outdoor play facilities, a new entrance from College Avenue, a set down area, parking facilities for 26 cars and all associated works and landscaping.
Kilkenny County Council is due to make a decision on the project in early December. Submissions from the public are being accepted up until November 17.
