Class act: growing Kilkenny school unveils plans to expand

A primary school in a county Kilkenny village is hoping to expand by adding a new classroom.

The Board of Management of Marymount National School in The Rower has applied to Kilkenny County Council for permission to build an extension onto its existing building.

The mixed-gender school currently caters for more than 160 students across five classes and has taken in a significant number of new students in recent years.

The extension will see the construction of a single storey classroom alongside associated ancillary works.

A decision on the application is expected in mid-March.
