Cloud funding: Airbnb invite Kilkenny groups to apply for €5,000 grants
Groups and organisations in Kilkenny are being invited by Airbnb to apply for funding as part of its new microgrants programme.
‘Áitiúil’ is a pilot scheme designed to provide funding to projects across the country that lead grassroots, cultural and community initiatives and it will award grants of between €500 and €5,000.
The pilot and first round of funding will take place in the first quarter of 2020 and Airbnb will shortlist applications every three months.
Grants will be provided to a diverse of range projects, including:
- Environment: Promoting sustainability of the natural environment;
- Placemaking: Celebrating and raising awareness of places of cultural or historical significance ;
- Innovation: Entrepreneurship in the Irish tourism and travel industry;
- Festivals and Events: Preserving or celebrating local festivals;
Jean Hoey, Public Policy Lead for Airbnb in Ireland, said: “Community is at the heart of everything in Ireland. That’s why we are proud to launch Áitiúil, Airbnb’s local-led microgrant programme. Grassroots initiatives are critical to preserving our culture and heritage. We want to support them in their mission to promote culture, sustain the environment and celebrate Irish heritage.”
