Council rejects plans to build 25 new homes in Kilkenny village

Plans to build 25 new homes in a Kilkenny village have been knocked back by the local authority.

The development planned for Dangan townsland, beside Kilmacow, would have created homes for over 70 people.

However, Kilkenny County Council turned down the proposed development, saying the plans are “premature”.

Dunkitt Properties Ltd submitted the planning application in September but found out last week their application was refused by the council.

The council rejected the proposal as it found the provisions of the Kilmacow county development plan 2014-2020 had not been met.

In refusing the application the council said: “The proposed development is therefore premature and at variance with policy objectives in the current plan and must be refused as it material contravenes the zoning objections of the area.”
