COVID-19: Kilkenny pensioner is first to die locally after contracting virus

The coronavirus has claimed the life of the first local victim to die from Covid-19.
It is understood the victim is an 80-year-old man who died after a short illness at St Luke’s General Hospital. Health authorities would provide any further details about the man.
He is among 331 people in the Republic who have died after contracting the virus so far.
Some 47 people locally have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, with the number of cases nationally now standing at 4,604.
