COVID-19 UPDATE: A further 24 pass away as expert says face masks are ‘critical’

A further 24 people lost their lives from Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland in the last 24 hours, the HSE said this evening.

The total death toll here is now 1,488‬ while the number of confirmed cases has now reached 23,242 after another 107  were diagnosed.

Meanwhile, NPHET discussed guidance around the use of face coverings at a meeting after immunologist Dr Luke O’Neill said the use of such coverings will be “critical” to the reopening of the country.
