Covid case in Cats camp casts fresh doubts over rescheduled league clash

Fresh doubts hang over this weekend’s rescheduled Kilkenny versus Wexford Allianz National Hurling League 1B clash following a fresh Covid-19 positive test.
This time a member of the Kilkenny senior panel that has returned a positive test.
Last week the match was postponed less than 24 hours before throw-in after two members of the Wexford panel tested positive for the virus in the run up to the game.
It is understood that as a precaution, the entire Kilkenny senior hurling panel has been tested and results should be known later today.
A decision on whether the match, rescheduled for this Sunday at 3pm in Nowlan Park, will go ahead is expected later today.
Wexford GAA yesterday confirmed the panel has recorded a clean bill.
A Wexford GAA spokesperson said: “Wexford GAA wish to confirm that further testing of our senior hurling panel revealed no positive cases.
“The panel will resume training and will be in a position to fulfil our upcoming fixture against Kilkenny.”
