Decision on 16-bedroom Kilkenny hotel ‘due within weeks’
Innovative plans to build a new hotel on the outskirts of Kilkenny City which reflect the changing needs of tourism and business consumers are back on the table.
Menesiah Limited, a Kilkenny based company, lodged plans with Kilkenny County Council last year to construct a 16-bedroom aparthotel in the Hebron Industrial Estate.
The initial plans requested permission to construct a three-storey building for short term holiday let only, reflecting the needs of modern travellers.
The aparthotel requested would comprise of 15 two-bedroom hotel apartments and one hotel studio suite, a reception area, car-parking, a retaining wall around the complex and all associated works at the site on the far side of the Kilkenny Ring road at Leggettsrath.
Kilkenny County Council received six submissions from the public regarding the development and returned to the developers with a request for further information.
The council has now received that information and is reviewing the planning request.
A decision on the development is expected in the next couple of weeks.
