Brothers in arms – the moment DJ Carey’s sons met on opposing sides of the pitch
THIS great image from Sportsfile captures the moment the two sons of Kilkenny legend DJ Carey met on opposing sides of the pitch while playing for their respective colleges.
Michael, who lined out for UL, shakes hands with brother Sean, who represented UCD in the Fitzgibbon Cup.
On this occasion it was Sean who emerged the happier of the siblings as UCD ran out 3-8 to 0-15 winners.
Dad DJ previously spoke about the difficult prospect of having to manage his two sons shortly after he agreed to take on the job of managing the Kilkenny under-21s in 2017.
He said at the time: “It’s not as if they haven’t ambitions, they have ambitions but, as most people that would know me in any way would know, my intentions would be right and if my lads are good enough to play they’ll get their chance to play and if they’re not good enough to play, they won’t.”
