Don’t miss new Swiss flight deal: Cork Airport expands Zurich service
CORK Airport, Ireland’s fastest-growing airport just 90 minutes drive from Kilkenny, today welcomed the news that Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is to expand its Cork-Zurich service for Summer 2020.
The airline will operate an Airbus A220-100/A220-300 offering four flights per week – on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday – commencing on March 29 and running until October 20.
Cork Airport said today’s announcement will result in a 7% increase on capacity compared to Summer 2019, with an additional 2,022 seats on offer and an expansion on its summer season to 30 weeks, compared to 27 weeks in 2019.
Cork Airport Managing Director Niall MacCarthy said: “We are thrilled to see SWISS expand its services and increase capacity from Cork Airport again next summer. It is a testament to Swiss International Air Lines confidence in the route. We are confident that with the extended season with SWISS this will further add to Cork Airport’s impressive growth to date, attracting even more holiday and business visitors to the South of Ireland region for 2020.’’
Andreas Koester, Senior Director Sales UK, Ireland and Iceland for the Lufthansa Group, added: “Cork continues to be an important destination within the SWISS network. Since introducing the route in 2017, demand has continued to grow so we have responded with another increase in overall capacity.”
“The extended season further increases the number of business and leisure opportunities for both Irish passengers and international visitors to Ireland. The 4 frequencies a week contribute to Lufthansa Group’s portfolio in Ireland and offers connections not only to Switzerland but to a variety of SWISS destinations around the world.”
