Enterprising Kilkenny company ‘One to Watch’ after collecting national award at Ploughing Championship

A KILKENNY company has won a prestigious annual agri-business award at the National Ploughing Championships.
Beotanics Ltd, based in Stoneyford was announced as the ‘One-to-Watch’ award winner at the Enterprise Ireland Innovation Arena Awards 2019.
The Kilkenny company leads the way in the development of niche food crops such as Sweet Potato, Yacon and Wasabi. Beotanics has developed extensive growing facilities in Stoneyford including a plant science laboratory, plant quarantine and R&D greenhouse.
Announcing the winners at the international networking event in the Innovation Arena yesterday evening, Enterprise Ireland CEO Julie Sinnamon said: “The Innovation Arena Awards showcase the future of agri-business and offer Irish agri-innovations a world stage.
“Each year we see significant progress in the innovative agri-products and services on display.
“There is clear evidence of the value and potential of the agri-sector to drive economic growth and Enterprise Ireland is committed to supporting the global ambition of our agri-sector by looking to new markets and overseas growth opportunities.”
This year’s ploughing championship will see 100 buyers from 12 countries attending the event.
