Gardai probe overnight smash-and-grab raid at popular Kilkenny city shopping centre

Gardai are on the hunt for four men who broke into a popular shopping centre in Kilkenny city in the dead of the night in a bid to steal valuable tech items.

The thieves managed to gain access to Market Cross Shopping Centre on Kilkenny’s High Street at around 2am this morning.

Once inside, the men headed directly for a one particular store. They smashed the window of the premises to gain entry.

Gardai today said it is still unclear what exactly was stolen during the break-in.

The thieves fled the scene a short time after entering the shopping centre. CCTV cameras nearby showed them making their getaway in a silver saloon car.

Gardai have urged potential eyewitnesses or anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area at the time to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.
