Garda appeal after man, 80s, seriously injured in county Kilkenny collision

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses after a man in his 80s was seriously injured in a road traffic collision in county Kilkenny.

The collision involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian occurred in Mooncoin at around 7.30pm on Saturday.

Gardaí and emergency services arrived at the scene, and the elderly pedestrian was taken to University Hospital Waterford where he was treated for serious injuries.

He has since been transferred to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in Dublin.

No other injuries were reported.

Gardaí this evening appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to get in contact.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Any road users or pedestrians who were in Mooncoin village at the time or travelling on the N24 between 7-8pm and have camera footage, including dashcam, are asked to make it available to investigating gardaí.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Waterford Garda Station 051 305300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.”
